Packing for the Dominican Republic is like beginning the journey itself. Between pristine sandy beaches, nature excursions and sun-drenched days, it's essential to have everything you need once you arrive to fully enjoy your stay, while staying light and well-organized. Here's our complete and practical packing checklist for your Dominican Republic trip.
Clothing to Pack
The Dominican Republic enjoys a tropical climate: warm and humid year-round. Opt for lightweight, comfortable and breathable clothing:
- T-shirts, tank tops, dresses and shorts in cotton or linen
- Swimsuits (at least two so you can alternate)
- Hat, baseball cap or scarf for sun protection
- Sunglasses with good UV protection
- Sandals or flip-flops for the beach
- Closed-toe shoes (like sneakers) for excursions (buggy rides, safari, hiking...)
- A light jacket or cardigan for evenings that can be more humid
Sun Protection and Mosquito Repellent
The sun can be intense, even through clouds. The tropical climate attracts mosquitoes, especially in certain humid areas and toward evening. Be sure to pack:
- A sunscreen with high SPF (minimum SPF 30)
- An after-sun cream or aloe vera-based balm
- A tropical insect repellent (essential in the evening or in certain regions)
First Aid Kit and Medications
While the country is safe overall, requires no vaccinations or special preventive treatments, and has accessible pharmacies and hospitals throughout, it's best to prepare for minor ailments:
- Adhesive bandages, antiseptic, acetaminophen (Tylenol)
- Personal medications
- Antihistamines (in case of allergies)
- Anti-diarrheal medications
- Feminine hygiene products (bring extras as they may be hard to find in rural areas)
Useful Daily Accessories
- An adapter for Type A/B outlets (like in the United States, 110V)
- A waterproof bag or pouch for phone, passport or money at the beach
- A small backpack or tote bag for outings
Important Documents
To enter the Dominican Republic, no visa is required, but you must have with you:
- Your passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date
- The E-Ticket form, mandatory for entry and exit from the country 👉 To be completed online 48 hours before departure: https://eticket.migracion.gob.do

Snorkel Mask, Snorkel and Beach Equipment

For children, we recommend bringing their personal equipment, as sizes available locally are sometimes limited.
