Bahía de las Águilas is a pristine beach located at the far southwestern tip of the Dominican Republic, in Pedernales province, within Jaragua National Park.

Natural Treasures of the Bay
Wander through an environment composed of shrubs, bushes, and local plants like canelillas, balsa palms, and raft trees. Along the way, you may encounter horned melon plants.
Rare endemic species have made their home in this space, including the Hispaniolan solenodon and the hutia. These small threatened mammals coexist with reptiles such as Ricord's iguanas, rhinoceros iguanas, and island tortoises.
Observe the birdlife closely: sooty terns, white-crowned pigeons, and other local species regularly soar over the area. This is a favorite spot for birdwatching enthusiasts.
Beneath the surface, discover an intact coastline composed of coral reefs and vast seagrass beds. These depths are home to numerous species such as conch, lobster, and occasionally the West Indian manatee.
Respect the protected natural spaces—they host sea turtles that come here to lay their eggs and feed.

Climate
Bahía de las Águilas enjoys a tropical climate, marked by a combination of dry and wet seasons. From January to April, days are warm and pleasant, with temperatures around 28°C and light rainfall that won't disrupt your outings.
From May to November, the weather remains comfortable, though temperatures can reach 30°C. This is an excellent time to explore the surrounding nature and enjoy the pristine waters.
In December, conditions are ideal. Average temperatures hover around 29°C and rainfall is rare. This period is perfect for outdoor activities like swimming or seaside walks.
The bay lies in the southwest of the Dominican Republic, approximately two hours' drive from Barahona, the region's largest city. It sits close to the border with Haiti, on the island of Hispaniola.
